It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year at Salisbury

Salisbury High School has been expecting their yearly visit from a tiny festive elf: The Elf on the Shelf. He began hiding around the school on Monday, 12/18. Students and staff received the following email signed by their annual guest on Tuesday, 12/13. Each year, Mr. Anderson sends well-crafted riddles to students in order to give hints as to where the Elf is going to be hiding. Poetry Out Loud Competition

The Poetry Out Loud competition was held December 12th in room 006 during Falcon Period. During this competition, students recited poems by memory and were judged by all of the teachers in the English department. The winner of this in-school competition will advance to the next level of competition: the state finals. The location has yet to be decided for the state finals, but it will be hosted on March 5. There, contestants will recite three poems with the rest of the champions from Pennsylvania. Finally, the winners of the state competitions will participate in the national semifinals on April 24 at the Lisner Auditorium in Washington D.C. This competition will be broadcasted live. Finally, on April 25, the national finals will occur. The semifinals and finals at the Lisner Auditorium are free to attend and open to the public.  Making it to the national finals is a huge accomplishment; the best competitors in all of America will attend.   Prince Harry is Engaged to an American

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dating for at least 15 months. Meghan is an American actor, raised in Los Angeles, California. Harry and Meghan got engaged on November 27th, 2017. Markle’s ring includes a diamond from Botswana, for the yellow color, and smaller diamonds that belonged to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana of Wales. Prince Harry included his mother’s diamonds because he wants her to be included on this “crazy journey.” Jewelers in the UK said they will not be making replicas of the ring. The jeweler also said this is one of the “biggest, hardest secrets” they have had to keep.
