The Salisbury Falcons field hockey team currently holds a 9-5-1 record with three games left in the season. If the Falcons win any of these three games, they will qualify for districts. This would be the first time in a few years they would make it this far.
Salisbury’s head field hockey coach Jane Brennan said, “The drive and dedication of this group of student athletes is beyond words. They show up and put forth effort that has gotten them this far. Of course we have had our bumps along the road, but they continue to fight until the last whistle.”
They face the Wilson Warriors tonight at 6:30 at home. Then they will play Southern Lehigh Thursday, Oct. 6 at 4:00, and wrap up their season against Freedom on the road this Saturday, Oct. 8.
Senior varsity player Kendall Schaffer said, “We’ve worked really hard this season and it’s really showing. The next two games are going to be difficult, but we are hoping to secure a win Saturday against Freedom.”
The Wilson Warriors field hockey team has had a perfect season so far, being undefeated sitting at 13-0. The Southern Lehigh Spartans are also having a successful season, having a 10-2-1 record. The most winnable game out of the next three for Salisbury is against Freedom. Freedom is 4-11 on the season and has been shutout by many teams.
Coach Jane Brennan also went on to say, “As their coach I am so proud of the great leaps they have made, both physically and mentally. They have put in the work. last winter (indoors), summer league and preseason workouts. It takes all of them working together towards a common goal (districts) to make this happen. All we can do now is put it all together and play with the spirit that has gotten us here.”
