The girls basketball team had their first game of the season against Dieruff High School on Friday Dec. 10. All the girls were anxious to get on the court and play. The starting line up was senior co-captain Quinn Wittman, senior co-caption Krista Bonge, junior Hannah Kamp, sophomore Desireé Nales, and junior Angela Bitar. The final score ended up being a win for the falcons with a score of 45-38.
____ asked some of the girls how they felt before the game. Senior co-caption Krista Bonge stated, “We have really good chemistry on and off the court. I think that will really help us.” Krista has high hopes for the 2021-2022 season. Many of the underclassmen have voiced that the team has a very close bond, and the upperclassmen are really welcoming. Team chemistry can make or break a team, and Salisbury’s girl’s basketball team seems to have bonding in the bag.
Senior and other co-caption Quinn Wittman stated, “I think we’re going to keep improving this season like last season.” Quinn is really excited for the game, especially after being out of sports her fall season due to injury. She has a positive outlook for the upcoming season and only hopes the team will improve this season. As long as the team improves, it will be a successful season for Quinn.
We also interviewed junior Angela Bitar (about the season), and she said, “I’m pretty excited. The teams have been working pretty hard at practices, so I think we have a good chance at a successful season.” Angela played her freshman year of high school, and this will be her second season back. She’s excited to start for varsity this year as a junior, and she has confidence that the girls will be able to pull off a good season this year.
Their next game is tonight, Dec. 16, at Salisbury against Northern Lehigh. Join fellow students in the falcon nest to cheer them on! The game starts at 6:45.
