With the weather cooling down, fall sports are coming to an end. The Lady Falcon tennis team went to Lehigh University for the 2A Doubles Championships this past Monday.
These matches included the top 16 teams in District XI. Salisbury qualified for two doubles teams. Playing at number one doubles were seniors Marcie Silberman and Maisie Oliver and at No. 2 doubles, seniors Mackenzie Hankee and Krista Bonge.
Silberman and Oliver lost to sixth seed players Lencheski and Unger from Notre Dame-Green Pond. The score was 6-4, 6-1.
Hankee and Bonge won against seventh seed players Superka and Hartmen from Bethlehem Cathloic; the score was 6-4 6-4. After this, they made it into the quarter finals, but lost against second seeds Magilochetti and Adams from Bethlehem Cathloic with a score of 6-0 6-2.
Even though the Lady Falcons didn’t win, they did win two silver medals and 3 bronze medals at the Colonial League Championships.
No. 2 singles player Mackenzie Hankee has helped the team achieve their 10-3 record this season. She expressed, “I’m sad that my senior season is over, but I’m thankful for all the fun memories I have made with my teammates throughout the season.”
Manager Nolan Gredja was also at the championships. He has helped support and train the girls throughout the season. “Losing in Districts fairly early is not something we all had hoped for, but our senior girls put their best effort into it regardless of the outcome.”
Gredja expressed, “As this was their final match as seniors, the girls have left a lasting impact on the underclassmen as they hope to continue with the game and win more matches next season.”
