The Salisbury boys tennis team, playing 5 matches last week, only won 1. Although this week was difficult, “next week is looking to be a week of winning for the Falcons,” head coach Stan Fidrych stated.
As the Falcons played 3 home matches and 2 away matches, they lost all home matches and 1 of their away matches. With losing scores of 2-3, 1-4, 0-5, and 0-5, the Falcons came out with 1 win this week against Jim Thorpe with a team score of 4-1.
When the tennis team won 4-1, coach Fidrych commented about these matches. “After this long week, it’s great to end on a win. As we lost 4 in a row, winning this one showed the boys that after hard weeks, they can still find a win.”
“Although this week was more difficult for the boys, we should win against Wilson, Palmerton, and Palisades next week,” coach Fidrych exclaimed.
Although the team went 1-4, the Falcons hope to win against Wilson, Palmerton, and Palisades this week, changing their overall standings from 3-6 to 6-6, only having to play Southern Lehigh to then determine the final standings of this team this season. As playing these 4 teams will end the season, the Falcons hope to go to the Colonial League playoffs and the District playoffs to show that they can win even more.
