It’s official. The wintry-cold days have come to a close. Saturday, March 20th, marked the first day of spring this year. With this upcoming spring comes spring sports, warm weather and some seasonal changes. Here’s a list of what is currently happening in Salisbury.
First, is SHS spring sports. Varsity softball, baseball, boys and girls track and field and boys tennis began on Monday, March 8th. Director of Student Activities, Ms. Deeb, stated, “spring sports did not have a season last year so I really hope they are able to have a great spring this year.”
Secondly, Mr. Muschlitz sent out an email Monday, March 22nd to SHS regarding the start of spring. One outdoor change Mr. Muschlitz addressed in the email was about the courtyard walkway to be open every day, if not raining, for students to use as a shortcut to their next class. This gives students the opportunity to walk outdoors on the sidewalk from or to the north hallway to the lower level. He also reminded students in the email about removing all hats and hoods, dressing appropriately and monthly fire drills that are going to occur.
Lastly, Salisbury’s spring break begins Thursday, April 1st, until Tuesday, April 6th. Holidays occurring during this time period include: April Fool’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
With the change in season brings hope. The days of warm weather and flowers beginning to bloom are here. High hopes are in the air. With the COVID-19 pandemic currently getting better, it seems like a good kick-off to this spring.
