Super Bowl LII is not the only thing that the media has been raving about. Kylie Jenner, reality T.V. star and owner of Kylie Cosmetics, announced to the public on the same day as the super bowl that she had a baby girl. Fans were happy to see her posting again; she’s been missing from social media for the past few months, and didn’t make an appearance on the family’s Christmas card.
Supporters are applauding Kylie’s friends for keeping her pregnancy a secret for the entire time, but their efforts weren’t enough to stop speculations. Although never confirmed, most who “keep up with” the Kardashian/Jenner family assumed that she was pregnant long before it was officially announced. When asked, twelve out of twelve people in a room already heard that Kylie was pregnant. “I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions. I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys,” she tweeted. “My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how.”
The baby, whose name was not revealed until Feb. 6th, was born on February 1st. For all the zodiac sign enthusiasts, that makes the baby an Aquarius. It was rumored that the baby would be named something related to butterflies (Mariposa or Posie), because the insect supposedly has a lot of meaning to Kylie and 25 year old rapper Travis Scott, the father of the baby. The family posted a video to YouTube titled “To Our Daughter”, which is nearing 50 million views. The baby’s butterfly-themed nursery is shown in said heartfelt video that is addressed to the baby. Kylie is also seen wearing a diamond butterfly necklace given to her by Travis Scott, who wrote a song about their relationship called “Butterfly Effect”.
Her daughter’s name was finally revealed in a record-breaking Instagram post on February 6th; Stormi Webster. The picture of Stormi holding Kylie’s finger became the most-liked Instagram post of all-time, with almost 16 million (and counting) likes. “Webster” comes from Travis Scott’s real name, Jacques Webster. So why, after all the talk of butterflies, did Kylie Jenner name her baby Stormi? The name’s relevance has yet to be explained, but the most popular theories are that it has something to do with the phrase “the calm before the storm”, the storm being the baby announcement, or the Chaos Theory “butterfly effect”, which explains that the flap of a butterfly’s wings can cause a storm somewhere else.
Fans are extremely happy and congratulatory towards Jenner and Scott, who have been together for less than a year. Kylie Jenner is now making a return to social media, and catching her followers up on what they’ve missed. Hopefully the meaning behind Stormi Webster’s name will be clarified soon; theories are getting pretty wild. Kylie’s sister, Khloé Kardashian, is also pregnant and has decided to share it with the media. She is supposedly due soon, so fans can expect to see another famous baby not far from now.
