The Start of Fishing is Upon us
By Alex Glenn
On Saturday April 1, all waters in Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill and York counties will be open for the beginning of trout fishing for the regional season opener. All of the other counties in PA will be able to fish on April 15th for the statewide seasonal opener.
Opening day will start precisely at 8:00 a.m. and will be open 24/7 until Labor Day when the season ends. Minimum size to keep the fish is seven inches. The maximum amount of fish that you can keep is five, so make sure they are big.
If you are at least 16 years of age you must have a license in order to fish legally. Make sure that your license is visible at all times on an outer garment. Also bring another source of identification other than your fishing license just in case a Waterways Conservation Officer asks for it.
