Salisbury Named One of Lehigh Valley’s Top Workplaces For The Second Year
By Alex & Lindsey Diamond
The Salisbury Township School District was named as one of the best places to work for in the Lehigh Valley. The school district made it on the list as one of 15 mid-size employers in the area and 40 in total that received positive feedback and consistent indicators of organizational health. The businesses in the Lehigh Valley that received this honor were published on Thursday, March 16th in the Morning Call’s Top Workplaces of 2017 special feature article.
The school librarian, Mrs. Burns, was interviewed on this achievement. She explained that a survey is sent out by all staff to complete, then the information given is used to figure out what it is like to be a faculty member at Salisbury school district. Even though Mrs. Burns worked at several school districts, she believes Salisbury really is the best because of other faculty members, students, and just the community overall. A contributing factor to why Salisbury is so close is size. Everyone feels a sense of community due to the small school. Mrs. Burns also included a personal story as to why she believes Salisbury is so special. At many schools, she explains, it is mandatory for teachers to attend graduation. At Salisbury, it is not mandatory, yet 87% of the staff attended out of sheer joy for the graduates. Even the elementary and middle school teachers attend the high school graduation. Mrs. Burns explained that occurrence spoke volumes about what Salisbury really is all about.
The administration of the Salisbury Township school district believes that they achieved the honor because of the staff members that perform their work in a way that is committed to the district. They said that winning the award is proof that Salisbury is a wonderful place to live, work, and learn.
