Extension of the School Year
By Briana Snyder
So far this year, many students, teachers, and staff have thought that this year of the winter was going to be a breeze. They thought that they wouldn’t have to worry about extending the school year with no snow days expect 1. Right when we thought we were clear for snow, we soon found out that we definitely were not. On March 21st 2017, winter storm Stella moved in fast and heavy, totaling about an inch or more per hour from the first 5 hours of the starting of the storm. Some places in the Lehigh Valley reached from 10 inches to 14 inches of snow.
This resulted in a total of 3 days off of school, March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. The aftermath of the storm made the roads troubling not only just for buses to drive and get around corners but for cars driving on the roads also, to and from places. This then made the date last day for all Salisbury Township School students, except seniors to Monday June 12th, 2017. Seniors’ last day is still as scheduled for Thursday, June 1st, 2017.
