Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather?
By CJ Wittman
Two of fighting’s biggest names in the United States, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, may be closer to fighting than we thought. UFC’s president, Dana White, who doubted the idea previously, is now convinced it will happen. White knows the money that will be involved in this fight will be record breaking. Both McGregor and Mayweather have been battling on social media and trying to progress closer towards a fight, but will likely be delayed due to the birth of McGregor’s first child in late April or early May. Agreeing on the fight and numbers has proven difficult for the two in the past, given they have such big egos to back up.
McGregor would easily be named the underdog in the fight. Mayweather stands at 49-0 after retiring, and ranks as one of the best boxers in his generation. For Conor McGregor to get his boxing license and take on Mayweather, it would be a tough first fight.
On the upside, Mcgregor is also in his prime in the UFC and only 26; Floyd Mayweather is 40. Dana White claims Mayweather is small in size compared to McGregor. McGregor can hit hard, and brings a lot of talent from the UFC to translate into boxing, so the fight could easily go either way. Boxing or UFC, if this fight happens it will surely be a big one.
