Salisbury boys basketball moves on to district 11 semifinals
By CJ Wittman
The varsity boys basketball team traveled to Sewards Gym in Allentown on Friday night to try to advance to the district 11 semifinals. Knowing that it could be their last game if they lost, the boys played with intensity and heart to stay in it. Throughout the game, the score was tight with there never being over a 10 point lead from either squad. After Octorora’s near full court shot to end the first quarter, the Falcon’s hung on close after 16-10 lead from the Braves, then took over from there.
In the second, Salisbury lead by big man Jaxon Costello outscored Octorora 21-11, which the Braves eventually caught up from again in the third quarter. The game remained close to the very end and when the buzzer went off both teams were tied up. In overtime, the Falcons outscored Octorora 12-11 to clinch a spot in the state playoff tournament. Salisbury finished with 68, Octorora, 67. Jaxon Costello racked up 35 points, and 13 rebounds. Blake jones added 10 points with two 3 pointers, and Sean Snyder with 8.
The boys advance to the district 11 Class 4A quarterfinals on Tuesday the 2nd. They will play No. 6 Jim Thorpe in the semifinals.
