Parkland’s Titanic Continues Freddy Awards Season

Five high schools in the Lehigh Valley area continue the Freddy Awards season by putting on musicals this weekend. Parkland High School’s production of Titanic kicks off this weekend’s display of talent.

Parkland High School’s Titanic: This musical, written by Maury Yeston and Peter Stone, examines the lives of passengers in first class, middle class, and steerage aboard the doomed luxury liner throughout the nights leading up to the ship’s fatal encounter with an iceberg. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. April 13-16 and 3 p.m. April 17. Tickets for all shows are sold out.

Warren Hills Regional High School’s Guys and Dolls: An untrustworthy gambler attempts to woo a Salvation Army missionary for a $1,000 bet. Meanwhile, a troubled showgirl tries to get her fiancee of fourteen years to finally marry her. Showtimes are 7 p.m. April 14-15 and 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 16. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors and $12 for adults.

Hackettstown High School’s No No Nanette: A Bible salesman, his wife, their lawyer friend and his wife, and the salesman’s young ward, Nanette, get into various romantic situations and misunderstandings in 1920s Atlantic City. Showtimes are 7 p.m. April 14-16 and 2 p.m. April 17.

William Allen High School’s West Side Story: This musical takes William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to the gang-ridden streets of 1950s Manhattan, dominated by the Sharks and the Jets. Two teens from the enemy gangs meet and fall in love at a gym dance. Showtimes are 7 p.m. April 14-16 and 2 p.m. April 17. Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for seniors, and $12 for adults.

Phillipsburg High School’s Carousel: In Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical adaptation of Ferenc Molnar’s play, Liliom, a carousel barker and a quiet mill girl fall in love, marry, and have a stormy relationship that leads to tragedy and an attempt at mending old wounds from beyond the grave. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. April 15-16 and 2 p.m. April 17. Tickets are $7 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.
