Freddy Musicals Continue with Legally Blonde
By Samantha Perkins
Three high schools around the area are putting on musicals this weekend to continue the 2016 Freddy Awards Season. Northern Lehigh High School kicks off this weekend’s shows with their production of Legally Blonde the Musical.
Northern Lehigh High School’s Legally Blonde the Musical: In this musical based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the MGM movie starring Reese Witherspoon, perpetually perky Elle Woods is a girl who loves shopping and being pampered. After her boyfriend breaks up with her, she attends Harvard Law School to try and win him back by proving there’s a brain in her pretty, blonde head. While there, Elle ends up defying expectations while staying true to herself. Showtimes are 7 p.m. March 17-18, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 19, and 2 p.m. March 20. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.
Warren County Technical School’s Annie Get Your Gun: Annie Oakley, a sharp-shooting country girl, is so good with a gun that she becomes the star of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show, much to the dismay of Frank Butler, the man she loves – and the man she can outshoot. Showtimes are 7 p.m. March 18, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 19, and 2 p.m. March 20. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults.
North Warren Regional High School’s Godspell: Mostly based on the Gospel of Matthew, Godspell is a series of parables. The parables are interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ dealt with briefly near the end of the performance. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. March 18-19 and 3 p.m. March 20. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults.
More information on other high school musicals in the area will be released weekly!
